Nothing better than the day of the cupid to sweep the women away. Tucked away in the heart of Pali in Bandra West is our much loved food galore Candies...and they decided to bling it on the 14th of feb with the Candies Bling Bazaaaar.......i have seen the shine in our eyes and the glow on our faces that comes with one more thing other than romance and food- and that is Clothes and Jewellery and Shoes and Bags and Make –Up and well..the list is endless. We, women just love them all and Bling Bazar had it all together specially wrapped up on this day ..
It was a feast for the eyes and I could easily spend a good 3 hours in that tiny place cramped with all the good stuff and lots of women, most of them accompanied with eager pleasing partners ( don’t forget it was the 14th and the oopsite sex chose to be willingly trapped in a maze of much hated 'shopping sprees') .
Colours and Laughter flitting around in froms of delighted women-there were beautiful resplendent counters of silver jewellery. I fell in love with the floral art peices, delicately crafted with stones set in silver and there went my precious resolution to not indulge myself. In no time I was checking the private sections where immensely talented jewellery designers had displayed their designs. There were stunning pieces in stones and copper , silver and beads and costume jewellery elegantly styled to suit your personality. Jewellery lead to clothes and then to some cleverly crafted feather slippers with ankle hoops and beaded threads.......I must say I found it rather fancy and almost like those Spanish flea markets where every counter brings a galore of exotic surprise that you can somewhere fit in your wardrobe and call it a ‘haute couture’...I really would not want to walk around in the city in one of those though i would want to own of them for a holiday in Greece
A corner that smelt like a French perfumery attracted me - it was a counter of handmade soaps and oils .......to my surprise they were unlike the regular SPA Counters- the soap arrangements somehow reminded me of a delicious cheese cake and i held back the temptation to take a piece and sink my teeth in it..the smell was over powering and the fragrances ranged from ocean lilies to jasmine, moringas and roses.....Red , they say is the colour of love ; It is the colour of blood ; is that why when love blooms then roses are red ? The rose bar was a dive into a deep sea of roses – so mystical and warm in its aroma that for a few seconds I forgot i am standing in the heart of a jostling bazaar clutching a bar of soap in my hands ...
The next bit was interesting....A guy sets his soundbox, gauntly adjusts his guitar in the middle of all this commotion and hustle and starts playing ..The white gilded steps were the perfect seat for me bask in his rich baritone of “Hey Carol’ and ‘Hotel California’ ..the bling bazaar had transformed into a Christian villiage fair with its songs and belles and the rich aroma of food.
Now how did i miss that so long ? The overly loaded counters of Candies down below were stuffed with the most delicious gastronimical delights and I did not waste any more time in satisfying myself with a steaming mug of coffee and one of their most amazing pies .......But, I was not done yet ..Food over, I head back again to sit on the stairs once more and this time I watched a beautiful stall close by me that had the most colourful array of canvas painted clutch handbags by a young artist . Creativity and passion at one of its best – I was really impressed with some of her paintings in oil on canvas that has been made into evening bags..Something you would want to carry with your gown in colours of amber, blue, red, pinks, black and yellows, they dazzled the eyes and showed the imagination and passion in the artist

Life is always about finding pleasure in whatever you have around you. We, as humans never stop doing that whether consciously or unconsciously. .... The footspa where foot relaxing services were being offered by visually impaired people through their keen sense of touch and feel was a reminder that we still have to make the best of so much that we already have within ourselves
I had been there for a very long time, absorbing the place, the people and most importantly the essence of the bazaar where it was so comforting to be lost in the crowd and feel happy and satisfied within yourself. It is comforting to forget the world for a short time if you can revel in the momentary joys of life. I was happy and alive...somewhere Mr.Cupid smiled that day for me
